50X50 Initiative for School Students

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed forces, have declared 2020 the year of preparation for the next 50 years. This declaration is the starting point for the formulation of the largest national action strategy of its kind to prepare for the next 50 years. This requires all community members’ concerted efforts to advance the UAE sustainable development for a better future for the Country. The process of development depends not only on those in positions of responsibility, but also needs the collaboration of the efforts of every citizen and resident on the land of the UAE.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has also launched the Project titled “The Design of the UAEs next 50 years”, which aims to involve community members in shaping the future of the UAE and developing the UAEs comprehensive development plan for the next 50 years. In this context, the 50X50 Initiative has been launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the local education entities, with the aim of implementing 50 digital interactive workshops that will engage Government and Private school students to get their ideas, opinions, and aspirations on various vital topics that will contribute to the preparation of the plan for the next 50 years.

The following are the proposed topics for the workshops and additional topics can also be proposed to come up with innovative ideas and perceptions that will contribute to the development of the comprehensive Development Plan for the Next 50 Years:

  • Lifestyle in the future
  • Sustainability and the future of the environment
  • The future of Emirati values
  • The jobs and the talents in the future
