EYSC Overview

The seventh edition of the Emirates Young Scientist Competition will be held in February 2025 in Dubai. The event is set to attract both students and teachers with its attractive environment that fosters a passion for science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The Emirates Young Scientist Competition brings together leading international experts and institutions in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This offers participants the opportunity to learn, share knowledge, discuss ideas and work together to achieve tangible results backed up by scientific research, science and technology, yet instil creativity and innovation throughout the process.

Dates: 1st - 5th of February 2025

Location: Dubai Festival Arena

Registration Deadline: Friday 1st of November 2024 at midnight

Participation Rules

  • Any utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools during the research, implementation, or documentation phases of the project must be explicitly stated and acknowledged by both the supervisors and the participating students.
  • Projects displayed in previous NSTI/EYSC or Think Science Competitions are NOT allowed unless a considerable enhancement has been made.
  • Participation is open for students in grades 5 to 12 in government, private, and vocational schools.
  • Students can participate in Individual Projects (UAE Nationals only) or Group Projects (up to 3 students per group with a maximum of 1 non UAE-national is allowed)
  • A student may only enter one project into the competition, whether they are entering as an individual or as part of a group.
  • Students must clearly acknowledge any source of information used in their scientific reports in addition to any support received from any entity.

Age Groups

  • Intermediate Level: Students in Grade 5 to 8
  • Senior Level: Students in grades 9 to 12

    Invitation to participate in the Emirates Young Scientist Competition.

  • Registration and Project Proposal

    08 October 2024

    The teacher or the Project Supervisor creates an account and registers his students and their project proposal.

  • Registration and Proposal Deadline

    01 November 2024

    The first stage of registration must be completed before this date.

  • Phase 2 Submission

    17 November 2024

    Qualified projects will receive an email informing participants of the details of the virtual assessment (progress video upload) for the second phase.

  • Phase 2 Deadline

    09 December 2024

    By this date all projects qualified to the second phase should have submitted their progress video and all other requirements for phase 2.

  • Announcement of the Qualified projects for the 2024 Emirates Young Scientist Competition

    20 December 2024

    The 100 top selected projects will receive their invitation to attend the NSTI Festival from 1st to 5th of February with the hope of becoming the 2024 Emirates Young Scientist winner.

  • National Science Technology and Innovation Festival

    1-5 February 2025

    All 100 projects will be evaluated by professional judges over 5 days, and the announcement of the winner will be made on the last day during the closing ceremony.
